YOUNG SCIENTIST TRAVEL AWARD


We are pleased to announce that a grant has been put aside to provide assistance for overseas participants to the 4th Asian Epigenomics Conference. We will provide up to 10 awards.


The award is worth SG$1,000 each and covers:
Registration fee to the conference
Attendance to the Gala Dinner on 25th August 2009
Hotel accommodation for three nights (23rd – 26th August 2009) at the Copthorne King’s Singapore


Terms and Conditions:
This travel award is open to students and postdoctoral fellows who are enrolled at an academic institution outside Singapore.
All applications must be submitted with an abstract, a valid student/postdoc ID as well as a letter of recommendation from the student’s or postdoc’s mentor.
The deadline for application is 31st May 2009. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted
Successful applicants are required to present a poster at the conference.
The award will be given based on the merit of submitted abstracts.

To apply for the grant, please submit your abstract and all relevant documents to epigenomics09@gis.a-star.edu.sg by 31st May 2009.

All successful applicants will be notified via email by 22nd June 2009.


Scoring System


The following scoring criteria are intended to be used as a gauge to evaluate the quality and consistency of the abstracts.

  1. Originality
  2. Scientific Value
  3. Relevance to conference theme
  4. Readability
  5. Quality of presentation
  6. Overall Impression


All abstracts will be graded by the committee.

The scoring system is a numerical scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the lowest score and 5 being the highest score. Abstracts are ranked according to their average scores and the top-scoring applicants will be given the Young Scientist Travel Award, up to a maximum of 10 awards.

Only abstracts with a minimum 3-point score or more (averaged) will be considered for the award.
